neem oil

This is the neem tree from India:

Every single part of this tree has been used traditionally in  many different types of ailments. Leaves, bark, stems, flowers, fruits, roots, and seeds all share common helping qualities. You may have seen neem oil, neem toothpaste, neem shampoo, neem face and skin cream, :neem mouthwash….etc. It’s incredibly versatile so give it a try!

Properties of NeemDSC07470
– anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-microbial
– fungicidal
– cleansing
– kills parasites
– anti-inflammatory
– natural pesticide
– kills bacteria that cause acne
– heals and disinfects itchy irritated skin, like eczema
– supports gum and mouth hygiene

I got a bottle of neem oil from work. It goes kinda thick/oily at room temperature, and smells very nutty. I’m going to start adding a few drops to dishwater to help disinfect my dishes. I’m also using it as a natural fruit and vegetable wash when I buy produce. Be creative with the possibilities! What do you do with neem? I’d love to hear anecdotes from readers about your favourite uses 🙂
